What We Talk About___ When We Talk About___

I enjoy the spiritual diversity and inclusiveness in your work, it's like a soothing meditation process for audiences. How the collaboration with different participants affect your art? Any interesting story you would like to share?

I was surprised that the creation of the participants[Interactive project: My Body is Home] was so refreshing. Some people will deliberately enlarge a limb or move their head away from the whole body and kick it flying, which seems to express a kind of ideological resistance. Another participant was holding his head, and his body seemed to serve the thinking and seemed to be chasing inspiration. Some people directly copy multiple hands to make images, discarding other body parts. Some participants did not seem to be stuck on the subject but started creating from the current state of mind. Different participants showed various life states through images, and all these, in the eyes of different audiences, may get distinctive signals. This is a cumulative process of meditation.

What’s the drama & woodcut animation background mean to your art?

Repetition is a kind of sharpening that takes place in a theater. I think that is the case with artistic creation. Sometimes, you can only see changes when you accumulate a certain amount of creativity. Focus on immersive self-expression in the drama is very similar to my creative method, and improvisation is also needed. And the same scenes in woodcut animation require the experience of line drafts, black drafts, and woodcuts repeated confirmation and production, and need to constantly experience familiar things, from freshness to boredom, numbness, and then freshness. My artistic creation is a combination of constant repetition and waiting for the opportunity to improvise.
